Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately  I was not able to install xsane
to my system, so as to answer your question. Perhaps this happens
because I am trying the new Ubuntu 10.10 alpha 2 version through a live
CD without installing it to the computer (I have only one computer).

This appears to be a problem with your scanner driver - do you get the
same result using xsane?

Bug description:
Binary package hint: simple-scan

When scanning a document the text and everything in it has three images, one 
over the others. First is the yellow image, a little below is the red one and 
just below is the cyan. The scanned results in an image that makes you dizzy. 
To be clearer I attach for you the scanned image. If you need any more
