Public bug reported: My webcam (Logitech, Inc. QuickCam Communicate MP/S5500) always worked without any problem. Recently, the stream in either Skype, mplayer or camstream (didn't try other players) stays just black although they recognize my webcam and the webcam is running. Probably on of the latest updates of any package destroyed anything (Please let me know which package version of which package I should post).
I tried out my camera with the following commands (only black screen) $ mplayer tv:// -tv driver=v4l2:device=/dev/video0:width=640:height=480 $ LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so camstream --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In mplayer I get the following output: $ mplayer tv:// -tv driver=v4l2:device=/dev/video0:width=640:height=480 MPlayer SVN-r1.0~rc3+svn20090426-4.4.3 (C) 2000-2009 MPlayer Team mplayer: could not connect to socket mplayer: No such file or directory Failed to open LIRC support.
