Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This is a problem with the pstoedit command that is used
for converting the postscript that latex outputs into the svg format
inkscape uses. If you try the pstoedit command in a terminal window
(even running it without arguments) you will see that it runs fine but
after that crashes with a segmentation fault. That's the error message
inkscape reports. The issue has been reported as bug #616027 and I'm
therefore marking this bug as a duplicate.
