Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gedit

1) lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS
Release: 10.04

2) apt-cache policy gedit
gedit:
  Installed: 2.30.3-0ubuntu0.1
  Candidate: 2.30.3-0ubuntu0.1
  Version table:
 *** 2.30.3-0ubuntu0.1 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid-updates/main Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     2.30.0git20100413-0ubuntu1 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages

3) What I expected to happen is that when I open files tens of megabytes
or larger, it does not take 10-30 minutes for it to load.

4) When I try to open files in the tens of megabytes or larger it takes
a very long time to load.
