This must be a problem with the scanner backend. 1. Start gscan2pdf with the --debug option. 2. Switch to the scanimage frontend and scan grey scale. The output in the command line will tell you the options that gscan2pdf used to call scanimage with. 3. Try the options out from the command line to make sure the results are the same. 4. Reduce the options down to the minimum to reproduce the problem. 5.
