Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-control-center
In Meerkat, when in gnome-appearance-properties, in the Visual Effects tab, changing visual effects from normal to none results in all windows in all workspaces to wind up in the first workspace. So workspace one has every window that was opened, and all the other workspaces are empty. This behavior seems to play a role in crashing gnome-terminal's which are open as well ( https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source /gnome-terminal/+bug/620522 ). The preferred behavior would be that one could turn off visual effects without gnome-appearance-properties, or some function it calls, mucking with the workspaces as it does. $ lsb_release -a No LSB modules are available.
