I also had this problem in 10.04 the first time I enabled remote
desktop. vino-server was taking 98-99% of my CPU. I don't think it was
triggered by disabling remote destop though.  All I did was turn on
remote desktop for the first time and this problem occurred.  I noticed
how slow my server had become, did a top and saw that vino-server was
taking almost all the CPU.  At that point, I disabled remote desktop -
which didn't kill the process - so then I killed the process. When I re-
enabled remote desktop, it was fine. I disabled and re-enabled a couple
more times with no issues.
