Public bug reported:

On a fresh install of Ubuntu 10.04, alsa does not detect my sound card.
This has been a problem on the last three releases of Ubuntu as well.
The last released the VIA vt1720/24 line of sound cards worked on was
8.04. I have tried to open alsamixer to unmute, but I get the error no
file found. The ICE1724 drivers necessary for this sound card are
present. I have tried all tutorials available at help.ubuntu. I was
hoping the fact that 10.04 is the newest LTS would mean this would be
taken a bit more seriously. The soundcard is present when I run lspci
in a terminal.

** Affects: ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
