OK. Here's what I did: Shutdown, boot --> "Enable Networking" and "Enable Wireless" are grey and unchecked.
Suspend, Resume --> "Enable Networking" and "Enable Wireless" are not grey anymore and I can check/uncheck them ! So it indeed seems to have something to do with the suspend/hibernate scripts as I read somewhere. Strange though that it also seems to run these scripts while shutting down.
