Public bug reported:

Resolution of local hostnames does not work. I discovered this, as my 
dnssd-connected printers stopped working.
After power-cycling the printer, it re-issues a mulitcast DNS upon which

* it can be found in Cups when query for network printers
* is accessable by "printername".local

However this is a recent failure, as a couple of days ago, the printer
was pingable right the moment I switched my laptop on.
