I too would be very grateful for the revival of this feature. I lost my laptop's battery last night because I forgot to press 'Yes' on the shutdown prompt.. so it stayed running until it's battery became critically low. My other OS, Windows 7 turns off automatically after I press shutdown, without any prompts.
