to my private repo at

It'll likely take a few hours to build, but then you can

   sudo add-apt-repository ppa:serge-hallyn/lxc-lucid-lazyumount
   sudo apt-get update
   sudo apt-get upgrade

Please let me know if this package fixes your problem.  It has the
lazy umount patch which IIUC should do the trick.
