Gee, I am sorry that I can't really be of much help or offer any further information. This was two distros ago, and I only vaguely remember the problem. Yes, I was running under X at the time. I kind of think I was subsequently able to install a mailcrypt update. And on my laptop (Arch Linux), I am actually not even using mailcrypt. Sorry that I can't be of more help.
