This bug has been fixed for a long time. However, the latest update breaks maverick once again. Please note that I have removed "quiet splash" from the boot params as I personally hate the splash, so Plymouth doesn't seem to be causing it. This has started happening only today after update, with X started on tty7, killed with "enter", then restarted on tty8.
