Thanks for reporting this bug. If I understand you correctly, you filed this
bug (and corresponding information) when sound was not working. Would it be
possible for you to run a Live-CD, when sound is working, and then collect some
alsa-info information? https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/AlsaInfo
We'll then compare it to what you have already submitted and look for
differences.
I'm also familiar with that a lot of information on the wiki is quite
outdated, or occasionally even plain wrong. :-(
