Hi Dana, The reason why it says "Intel" is that your south-bridge chip, controlling the codec, is Intel.
Could you please supply a pulseaudio log according to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PulseAudio/Log , i e, start the log, while it's running with the log on, try to do some playback from audacity (make sure audacity's output setting is set to "alsa: pulse").
