Sorry, had no Kubuntu running (because of the many, many little errors that make your life hard. 'nother person that switched to GNOME.) I tested again with Kubuntu lucid ppa KDE SC 4.5 packages, and the error is gone there. Numlock status is reflected correctly after boot. Thanks.
