Public bug reported:
Hi,
I did a fresh install of ubuntu 10.04 server-amd64 yesterday on a new
machine with 4 identical s-ata drives in it.
- I configured the drives to form a raid5
- then put lvm on it
- then made three partitions: swap, / (ext4) and /srv (ext4)
i used the standard installation routine for this. after installing and
not choosing any additional packages (except for postgresql and samba) i
rebootet and the boot process failed with the message (not 100%
accurate).
"Gave up waiting for root device."
The device was "/dev/mapper/lvmOnRaid-root"
What do to? Please note, that I didn't do anything fancy, just performed a
standard install.
