Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: apport

I have chromium-browser installed from a PPA. I wanted to file a bug on
it, so I did "ubuntu-bug chromium-browser" on the command line. I got an
error message saying:

    The problem cannot be reported:

This is not a genuine Ubuntu package

This is not a helpful error message and is misleading. I have a few
issues with the wording.

 (a) "The problem cannot be reported" - It is more accurate to say that
it can't be reported in Launchpad or ubuntu-bug. This message might make
a user think that it is impossible to report this problem anywhere, at
all. Some suggestions for better wording: "The problem cannot be
reported using this tool.", "The problem cannot be reported at this
time.", "The problem cannot be reported with the ubuntu-bug programme".
"The problem cannot be reported in Launchpad."

 (b) "This is not a genuine Ubuntu package". This phrasing is because
this package is from a PPA. This wording might mislead a user to think
that there is something "fake" or 'non-genuine' about the software
package. They might think that there is something wrong with the
package, the software they have installed, or their computer/ubuntu
install. I suggest these more honest wordings: "This package is not
maintained by the wider Ubuntu community", "This package is not part of
the Ubuntu software ecosystem" "This package is from a specialised
software source"
