I've added the 'nomodeset' parameter to the kernel.
Now plymouth starts with lower videomode, like 640x480, 256 colors, but maybe
this can be fixed with the 'videomode' kernel parameter.

The rendering problem has gone from Google Earth and Neverball, but is
still present in the Pinion screensaver, and appears in Blender after
while.

None of the OpenGL applications compiled locally has this problem.

I've tried the Maverick Alpha 3 LiveCD, (both 32 and 64 bit, although
not with the 'nomodeset' parameter), and Neverball's render was
erroneous.

Interesting.
