I can confirm that this sort works with grandr. If I turn off the laptop
screen, the monitor is not garbled, but it also doesn't show the
complete desktop (there is a 3 inch black band along the bottom and
right). However, I am unable to turn the laptop screen back on and
grandr behaves incorrectly (its window is not drawn properly).
