I also thought about this possibility, fact is, that i haven't had any more problems, after adding "gwibber" as application on my face book account,before all foreign applications in facebook were blocked in my configuration list, I'm not sure how it is called in the English facebook pages because I'm using the German site. But note, as Captain Chaos wrote before, this could also be coincidence, there is no real proof on that.... Well, after all, maybe the problem is not actually gwibber, empathy or anything similar, maybe the problem is facebook itself, I often have problems with the facebook(website) chat, sometimes it stucks even if I know that someone else is writing messages or another example, my mobile-phone applications have problems even, with showing online contacts or finding relations between usernames and message or just can't login to my facebook account, this is also really randomly. So the developers should may check, if facebook is sometimes overloaded, maybe there problems with response time limits in there applications, if facebook takes to long to answer or something like that...
