Are you talking about removing huge (1.2Mb size) upstream changelog.gz file from all openoffice.org-* packages (openoffice.org-common, openoffice.org-l10n-common, uno-libs3) or just from ttf-opensymbol package? Space on Ubuntu/Kubuntu Desktop CDs will be saved only when you remove upstream changelog.gz file from all openoffice.org-* packages, which are included in CD, because identical files don't take space on compressed squashfs filesystem. It seems current debhelper can automatically remove upstream changelog files from binary packages - for example size of libsnmp-base and other packages from net-snmp source decreased by ~850kb, because of removing upstream changelog when rebuilding against current debhelper: net-snmp (5.4.3~dfsg-1ubuntu2) maverick; urgency=low * No-change rebuild against current debhelper to drop sizable upstream changelog. -- Martin Pitt <[email protected]> Mon, 02 Aug 2010 08:34:07 +0200 (see http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/changelogs/pool/main/n/net-snmp/net-snmp_5.4.3~dfsg-1ubuntu3/changelog ) But latest openoffice.org 3.2.1 packages in Ubuntu Maverick (build at August 24 with current debhelper) still contains huge (1.2Mb size) upstream changelog.gz files :( Martin Pitt, maybe you know why upstream changelog.gz files are included in openoffice.org 3.2.1 packages? -- ttf-opensymbol package grows 6x in size (1.5Mb) in Ubuntu 10.04 because of included OOo changelog.gz https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/548692 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
