Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: ubuntu-wallpapers
on upgrade from one version of ubuntu to the next, this package removes
the wallpapers from the current version and replaces them with
wallpapers from the next version. Users may be using the old wallpapers
at the time but they are still removed.
Expected behaviour,
Old wallpapers are kept in place and new wallpapers added
One suggestion would be to have ubuntu-wallpapers-<version> packages
instead of the single package we have now.
