I'm experiencing a similar problem in a laptop running Linux Mint 9. The laptop is a Sony Vaio from the VGN series as well, and the usb device is an external 320 GB hard drive. The freeze apparently happens when moving large files in to the usb device. The folders and other stuff in the desktop remain unresponsive although I can access the files via terminal. I cannot access the usb device at all. When I unplug the usb device everything starts again, the folders I double clicked in the desktop get opened, etc. When the problem happens, the device does a low strange repetitive sound (doesn't look good).
uname -a gives Linux chaba 2.6.32-24-generic #41-Ubuntu SMP Thu Aug 19 01:12:52 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux I'm happy to provide any other information. Thanks a lot. -- USB devices cause desktop to freeze in Intrepid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/272188 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
