Can you please describe your situation in full? You marked this as an
iso-testing bug on the Kubuntu alternate amd64 Maverick beta-candidate
image. This doesn't look like a fresh install, though; were you trying
to upgrade using this image? I don't quite understand and need context.
The more interesting output in your logs is this:

... which suggests to me that your dpkg database was corrupted before
you started.
