Public bug reported:

Laptop won't boot after kernel upgrade.

Checked /dev for hard drive (/dev/sda1) from command line after error
"timeout waiting for /dev/sda1" or something to that effect. It used to
show the uuid before I changed it in /etc/default/grub. Changing to not
use uuid had no effect. No hard drives are listed in /dev with this
kernel.

Machine boots fine with older kernel.

uname -a: Linux netherrealm 2.6.32-23-generic #37-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jun 11
08:03:28 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux

/proc/version_signature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-23.37-generic 2.6.32.15+drm33.5

I'll attach dmesg output from the bootable kernel (2.6.32-23-generic).
I can't get the dmesg output from the new kernel obviously.

I'll also attach lspci-vnvn.log.
