Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: openoffice.org
Re: OpenOffice 3.2.0 000320M12 (Build9483) on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. The
program is used in the publishing industry. No problems sharing files
with individuals or formating for production printing, until recently
when it was used to format for eBook distribution. All that is required
for that is a .doc file with very little format coding. To accomplish
this, a file is run through a word processor like wordpad to strip all
codes, then pasted into a new, blank page on O-O. The document is then
given simple formating (first line indent set in format/pargraph, type
face & size, center or left margin). Anything else will cause problems
with the end product. O-O must be adding/re-inserting format codes. What
I see in the final product after configuring for various eBook formats
are extra spaces, line feeds, and wrong margins making the document
completely unreadable. When the document is re-opened in O-O I am also
finding Chinese characters sprinkled throughout the visible page. Sample
document may be available if trash has not been emptied.
** Affects: openoffice.org (Ubuntu)
