I ran the upgrade tool successfully (I guess) but with some disturbing issues:
I had to delete one repo (third party) from the sources file because it
returned a 302 (temporarily moved) error and the upgrade script wouldn't
continue with this. After that it went through fine up to the point where the
packages were configured. Of course I had some software running (but nothing
heavy) while doing the upgrade and at a certain point everything slowed down
and the cpu was loaded up to a point where everything got stuck while heavy
work on the hdd could be heard. It remained for fifteen minutes or so and then
suddenly everything started working again (even the clock had stopped) and I
received plenty of error messages of packages that couldn't be configured due
to missing dependencies starting with glibc6. I closed all of those errors and
the program went through most of of the packages smoothly except 40 or 50 of
them. At one point the installer found a problem with the nvidia-glx-dev
package and hung. I had to force the program to close down and manually delete
the apt lock file. (see log)
I then ran apt-get install manually and configured the rest of the packages
(even the ones rejected because of dependencies worked!) and solved the problem
with nvdia-glx-dev by removing those packages. After reboot the system works, I
believe everything is up to date. Nothing seems broken up to now.
