I have uploaded new packages of HPLIP 1.7.3 to http://www.linux-foundation.org/~till/tmp/ubuntu/feisty/hplip/binary/
now. They have Don's patch for the LaserJet 1100 applied. The files have the same names. Please download and install them with "sudo dpkg -i <file names>" as the first ones. This will replace the old packages. Johan, can you test whether this version solves your problems? The source packages are also replaced by this new version.
