Sorry if I expressed myself wrong, the goal was not to doubt your
results but rather to try to find a reason in configuration and choices
during the installer that would cause it not to ask for proxy info. I
tried d-i on server with a standard server install and a JeOS install on
ESX, as well as an install of alternate on actual hardware and can
confirm this bug.

I've attached the contents of /var on the installer, hoping this will
help.
