Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager
What's expected: After resuming from a blank screen, expect to be able
to use whatever as normal.
What actually happens: After resuming from a blank screen, keyboard and
mouse input is unresponsive until the application is minimized and then
maximized. There are no crashes, no lock-ups, no real show-stoppers,
just this small annoyance.
Example: Gnome power manager is set to put the display to sleep after 10
minutes of no activity. Moving the mouse or pressing a button un-blanks
the screen, but the screen immediately goes blank again, so have to move
the mouse or press a key again. Then everything looks fine, but no mouse
clicks or keystrokes take effect UNTIL you minimize and then bring back
up whatever application is at the front. So if it's your browser, you
need to minimize the browser to the panel/dock/whatever, and then bring
it back up. Then everything is back to normal.
The mouse DOES work to minimize and then maximize the application, but
nothing IN the application will take. For instance, I started writing
this bug report, took my dogs out, came back to finish it, and when I
un-blanked the screen, I couldn't type anything into the report until
after I'd minimized and then maximized the application.
Using gnome-power-manager 2.30.0-0ubuntu1 on a Lenovo Y510 running
Lucid; Intel 965GM graphics card; Compiz is enabled, although I don't
know if that means anything in this case.
