This does not appear to be a bug in wine.
If you want an easy way to install IE (6 and 7) you can use winetricks (
http://wiki.winehq.org/winetricks )
Instructions for getting it can be found on the wiki page or it can be
downloaded from the wine ppa ( https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-wine/+archive/ppa )
