I am doing exactly that, so far: using the C309a driver, and I anticipate that it should not be hard to get the additional change for the C410a for exactly the reasons you state.
HOWEVER, while I am able to do basic printing, so far, I have been entirely unable to get network scanning to work using SANE, with any of Karmic, Lucid or Maverick. Should I open that as a separate bug now, or wait for C410a "official" support? According to http://hplipopensource.com/hplip- web/models/photosmart/photosmart_c309a_series.html, scanning should work over a network connection, not just USB. I can see the scanner posted to mDNS, it works with the Macs here, but not with SANE, even after manually adding the IP to net.conf. As an aside, please note that in order to use the C309a driver, I had to update HPLIP from a PPA for Karmic (I have Karmic, Lucid and Maverick currently installed). I'll double-check karmic backports, but users should not have to update a still supported OS release just to handle a new printer. :-) Finally, is there a reason for marking the report as "incomplete"? :-) -- Needs to have HP C410a added https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/631028 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
