Well, after some debate, that's probably the way we're heading (have a look at bug #591747). Another way, not listed there, would be to keep a dictionary of [distro, python-module] -> package, with "distro" taken from "lsb_release --id", which *should* be supported by most distros. That, however, would mean that we would need at least one tester per distro.
