Public bug reported:

clean installation of linaro image 20100905-0 and successful installation of 
packages....
         ssh
         uboot-mkimage
         netbook-launcher-efl

.....shut the board down preceded by  a few sync calls....attempted to
reboot and did not get further than booting the kernel
