The workaround suggested is to change the render sample rate to 48khz
from 44.1khz, and this does indeed improve the problem, but certainly
doesn't remove it.

This is certainly post the 0.13.4 version of PiTiVi in the Maverick beta
which I have been testing, which I believe is the same version as Lucid
(Where I have also seen this issue).

Unfortunately this is the latest stable release of PiTiVi.
