I think I've run across this issue in just about every release since Intrepid.
I can stop it if I either disable showing the Desktop or by changing the X-GNOME-AutoRestart setting to 'false'. Here are the commands to do them (only one required on my system: gconftool-2 --type bool --set /apps/nautilus/preferences/show_desktop 'false' or gksudo gedit /usr/share/applications/nautilus.desktop Change: X-GNOME-AutoRestart=true >> X-GNOME-AutoRestart=false 10.10 Maverick Kernel 2.6.35-19-generic Gnome 2.31.90 Package: nautilus Priority: optional Section: gnome Installed-Size: 3296 Maintainer: Ubuntu Desktop Team <[email protected]> Original-Maintainer: Josselin Mouette <[email protected]> Architecture: amd64 Version: 1:2.31.90-0ubuntu3 -- attempts to spawn infinite number of file manager windows https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/620323 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
