Kind of sounds like an interrupt sharing problem, which is no-no for an
ISA device. Please attach (do not past inline) the output of these
commands:
cat /proc/interrupts > interrupts.txt
sudo dmidecode > dmidecode.txt
lspci -vv > lspcivv.txt
lspci -vvn > lspcivvn.txt
dmesg >dmesg.txt
