I can confirm this, it happened with my Latitude D505 today.

Driver i810 is automatically selected, which is ok, but the upper part
of the screen is corrupted, and the mouse pointer is gone.

I installed navigating by keyboard and tried changing the xorg.conf.
Selecting the vesa driver does no good, as the screen is even more
corrupted.
