OK There is a bug with the version 1.4.0+svn 1999 I am using dosemu for my professional activity and I can understand you like so much dos. Dos is really fantastic and there is so many interesting soft often free. I have used arachne (a browser running under dos) without any problem during 6 or 7 years.
Now I like so much linux (ubuntu or puppy linux....... With dosemu I have the same problem that you. For the moment you can try to install the stable version of dosemu (debian). You will have to create the file 90-dosemu.conf. And perhaps you could use Wordperfect.
