I would gladly attach the files requested, but, as previously stated, when the installation failed, the computer froze up and I had to force a reboot. I was installing using a live disk, so there were no files saved after the reboot.
I will note, however, that when I created a new boot disk of Linux Mint 8 Helena and attempted to install it on the very same computer, the installation completed without interruption and it has been running flawlessly ever since.
