I experienced this issue too on two separate machines. I think my old laptop actually died because of the numerous hard freezes (with blinking caps-lock key signaling a serious problems). When I installed 10.04 (64bit) on my fresh-out-of-the-box Thinkpad I got exactly the same!
Namely, all is well with all kernels up to 2.6.32-24, which seems to have problems with the ext4 filesystem. I just reinstalled Ubuntu using an ext3 filesystem and it seems to be working fine so far. . -- 2.6.32-24.41 - Massive freezes, problem with EXT4 Filesystem https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/621981 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
