Same problem on Canon imageRunner 2200 and Canon imageRunner C2250 using the pxlmono and pxlcolor drivers respectively.
Printing documents that are substantially text is OK. Documents containing images can be very slow and the printer sometimes outputs part of the page containing the image and then restarts the whole job from the beginning. Changing from pxlmono to lj4dith resolves the performance problem, but cannot duplex print. The ljet4d driver prints quickly and allows duplex printing. However, it truncates the end of every line slightly. (For example, if the last character on a line is an 'n', this looks like an 'r'.) It therefore appears that the problem is with the pxlmono and pxlcolor drivers. Tracing the output to the printer with Wireshark shows that computer repeatedly sending what appears to be the same output to the printer as per the following sample: 001F4BC8 63 e1 fe 09 e5 03 ff 09 e6 03 f8 42 a0 c0 c2 f8 c....... ...B.... 001F4BD8 09 63 e1 ff 09 e5 03 00 0a e6 03 f8 42 a0 c0 c3 .c...... ....B... 001F4BE8 f8 09 63 e1 00 0a e5 03 02 0a e6 03 f8 42 a0 c0 ..c..... .....B.. 001F4BF8 c4 f8 09 63 e1 02 0a e5 03 05 0a e6 03 f8 42 a0 ...c.... ......B. 001F4C08 c0 c5 f8 09 63 e1 05 0a e5 03 07 0a e6 03 f8 42 ....c... .......B 001F4C18 a0 c0 c4 f8 09 63 e1 07 0a e5 03 0a 0a e6 03 f8 .....c.. ........ 001F4C28 42 a0 c0 c3 f8 09 63 e1 0a 0a e5 03 0c 0a e6 03 B.....c. ........ 001F4C38 f8 42 a0 c0 c2 f8 09 63 e1 0c 0a e5 03 0d 0a e6 .B.....c ........ 001F4C48 03 f8 42 a0 c0 c1 f8 09 63 e1 0d 0a e5 03 0e 0a ..B..... c....... 001F4C58 e6 03 f8 42 a0 c0 bf f8 09 63 e1 0e 0a e5 03 0f ...B.... .c...... 001F4C68 0a e6 03 f8 42 a0 c0 bd f8 09 63 e1 0f 0a e5 03 ....B... ..c..... 001F4C78 10 0a e6 03 f8 42 a0 c0 ba f8 09 63 e1 10 0a e5 .....B.. ...c.... 001F4C88 03 11 0a e6 03 f8 42 a0 c0 b8 f8 09 63 e1 11 0a ......B. ....c... 001F4C98 e5 03 12 0a e6 03 f8 42 a0 c0 b6 f8 09 63 e1 12 .......B .....c.. 001F4CA8 0a e5 03 13 0a e6 03 f8 42 a0 c0 b5 f8 09 63 e1 ........ An eleven-page document with one large image hangs at the page containing the image. After about thirteen minutes, the printer output around a third of the page containing the image and the job restarted from the beginning. As this point I aborted it. The first attempt at printing had output over 30M bytes of data to the printer up to the point at which it failed. The Wireshark trace has been saved, but has not been attached to this report because of its size (11.2M bytes compressed). -- Slow printer processing for HP Laserjet 2100 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/598919 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
