I just had this problem (no add button appearing), running Ubuntu Lucid and gwibber 2.30.2 (all fully updated).
This worked... 1. Starting with no accounts 2. Tried to add twitter, validated 3. Got pop up to unlock my keyring, entered my Ubuntu password 4. Could click on "Add" 5. Twitter feed loaded 6. Added facebook, validated (using username not email) 7. Could click on "Add" 8.
