OK, final note for bug maintainers: my system is suffering from this issue -> http://www.gossamer- threads.com/lists/linux/kernel/1274011
It is a known kernel issue affecting Core i7 machines with Intel X58 BIOS. The workaround is: boot with kernel option "hpet=verbose". This restores full function, all mystery behaviors such as stuttering sound, slow typing with frequent repeated keys, SATA power-up issues on boot, hangs while accessing USB, etc, go away. -- High system load when idle https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/625036 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
