Ok, have access to my computer again: I now scanned 3 double-sided pages: Again, the 1st page is missing completely, pages 2 to 6 are scanned, thumbnails 3 and 5 are missing, rest is ok.
The issue with the filename is solved. I did not notice the change in the properties dialog with the new version - sorry. Frontend is scanadf. I am not too familiar with the structure of the gscan2pdf application.
