** Description changed:

  I've been having problems with usb audio devices plugged into any of my 
ubuntu machines. The audio works however the USB audio pops and clicks whenever 
the processor gets busy (reduced but not gone when idle). Currently this 
affects two of my usb audio devices that I am using (not in tandem).

  I'm currently using Ubuntu 10.04 with all the default audio packages.
  Stereo works on both but the popping and clicking makes it very annoying when 
listening to anything
  
  Things that make it worse:
  Enabling effects with the nvidia driver (extreme levels of clicking)
  Making the CPU busy
  
  I suspect that this is a buffer under-run or interrupt related issue
  however I am not exactly sure of the problem.
