I booted from the CD and did the install. If I did look through some menus, that was about it. However, before I tried anything with Mint, I did shrink the partition on the c: drive by 8mb by mistake. I got rid of that and created a 8gb space, using Win7. I'm wondering now if that had anything to do with the problem. It seems very far fetched especially that the small fragment is not 8mb, but you never know.
