What version of rdiff-backup is running at backup.millbank? Do you have
python-pyxattr installed locally and/or at backup.millbank? If so, what
version? What file systems are you backing up from? What is the file
system on the destination folder?

Was this a one time incident, or has it happened continuously? If you if
is repeatable, could you run rdiff-backup manually and add the option
"-v5" for extra verbosity? Besides showing information on capabilities
etc it will also print out the files it is working on, and hence which
files is triggering the issue.
